Earth Rising: Ceremonial Mbira

For thoushands of generations the Zimbabwean mbira has been played in all night ceremonies to connect us to our ancestors, the earth and our hearts.  This magical instrument weaves rhythm and melody into a polyphony of sound and spirit that touches sweetly and deeply.

Join Denise Rowe, Kennedy Chinyere and Allan Kerr for a sacred evening of music, dance and prayer that brings the magic of mbira into your own home.

6-7.30pm:  Embodying Mbira - Zimbabwean song & dance workshop

An introduction to the magical world of Zimbabwean mbira through traditional song and dance.  This session offers a route into the ceremonial mbira evening and also works as a stand alone workshop.

8-11pm:  Ceremonial Mbira Night

We will land together, call in support and gather our heart prayers.  There will be time and space for you to drop deeply into the holding of mbira music and follow your own journey through movement, dance, song, rest, prayer and play.  We will complete with time to harvest and share gratitudes.

This session offered in honour of the lives lost due to ignorance and to call us into rooted, openhearted alignment with truth.

At this time of change and re-alignment, the calls of Earth and Truth are stronger than ever.  We've all been changed, brought home to ourselves in new ways, and now we are at a threshold of emergence.  

Earth Rising is a series of outdoor and online offerings at the threshold, so that our emergence is rooted in truth, guided by our hearts, and grounded in our knowing of ourselves as part of this earth and each other.
